I am disgusted with the decision by the FA to appoint a Brazilian as the new coach for the English football team. With the imminent departure of the current coach, here was an excellent opportunity to appoint an Englishman.

Win, lose or draw, at least we would have had only ourselves to applaud or blame. Now, whatever England might win, critics will say we could not have done it without a foreigner at the helm. Surely, there must be some Englishman we could trust to take us on to glory?

PS.Congratulations on your new site. What a splendid idea, and in the 400th anniversary year of the Royal charter. However, while I understand fully the tradition, might I suggest you print at least the initials of your correspondents? I would be pleased for you to do so where I am concerned.

Thank you JAB. Your wish is my command! The Editor.

YOU REPLY IN RESPONSE TO JAB. WHAT PLANET ARE YOU ON YOU MUPPET?  I AM AS PATRIOTIC AS YOU CAN GET (ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO FOOTBALL) . WE WOULD ALL LIKE TO SEE AN ENGLISH MANAGER , BUT LETS EXAMINE THE FACTS. WE AINT GOT AN ENGLISH MANAGER WHO IS GOOD ENOUGH TO MANAGE THE TEAM. ALLERDYCE ?- DONE WELL WITH A 2 BOB OUTFIT FROM THE PITS OF MANCHESTER BUT NEVER WON ANYTHING . CURBISHLY? AGAIN DONE WELL WITH A 2 BOB OUTFIT FROM SOME CRAPPY AREA OF LONDON. AGAIN NEVER WON ANYTHING. NEVER LIKELY TO EITHER. OK - SO YOU'RE GOING TO SAY MCLAREN. WELL HE'S THE MANAGER OF A MEDIOCRE PREMIER SIDE WHO HAS SPENT A LOT OF CASH . WORST THING ABOUT HIM IS HE'S ERIKSSON'S RIGHT HAND MAN. HIRE HIM AND ITS MORE OF THE SAME GUTLESS , PASSIONLESS , CRETINOUS MANAGEMENT. WE MAY AS WELL KEEP ERIKSSON ON. AT LEAST HE SHAGS A FEW BIRDS AND KEEPS THE SUN'S CIRCULATION GOING.
SO WHO ELSE? O'NEILL? TO ME THE OBVIOUS CHOICE APART FROM ONE THING. HES A PADDY. I DONT CARE WHAT ANYBODY SAYS YOU CANT HAVE A PADDY , TAFFY , OR SWEATY SOCK IN CHARGE OF THE NATIONAL TEAM. ITS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.  SO LETS PICK SOMEONE WHO HAS A PROVEN INTERNATIONAL RECORD , AND HAS THE BALLS TO MAKE BIG DECISIONS IN BIG GAMES. I TAKE FOR EXAMPLE SCHOLARI DROPPING FIGO IN THE EUROS.

I am disgusted with the BBC's Religious Affairs Department and its sickeningly Politically Correct approach to what many English consider to be a sadly neglected day - St George's Day

On the very day when those of us who love our country were celebrating our patron saint, the Sunday Worship programme on Radio 4 decided it could only join us with a sermon extolling the virtues of all four saints which have been adopted by the countries of the British Isles.

And where did this programme come from, this programme which tried so desperately not to offend the other three by promoting St George alone? To add insult to injury it was broadcast from a Scottish kirk by a Scottish preacher.

I am disgusted with our benighted and increasingly chaotic Government and its predilection for non-elected advisers. One asks if New Labour is aware of just how much damage many of them are causing our country by their ill conceived activities.

A case in point in that of a certain Professor Ted Cantle who, with one ludicrous announcement, has probably done more to exacerbate racial tension and to promote the interests of the British National Party than any other hanger on. It is the more inexcusable when one considers that quite the opposite was his apparent intention.

The professor was quoted in the Sunday Times saying that some areas of England are "unhealthily all white" and gave as an example the town of Heanor in Derbyshire of which he says that black and ethnic minorities may feel they are not safe and secure there.

Would he say the same of Tunbridge Wells? There is hardly a coloured person to be seen but the few that there are, are treated by the resident whites in the same way as they treat each other. With politeness, courtesy, but otherwise with indifference!

Professor Cantle is part of the race relations industry in the UK - a Government adviser on the subject, no less. He does not appear to have the common sense to see that remarks such as his will create more animosity towards black people by whites.

His claim, it seems, was caused by the fact that the British National Party came second in a council by-election in Heanor in February. The Professor should pause to reflect on which party is likely to gain the most by his injudicious comments.

The editor writes
The jokes have been coming thick and fast about John Prescott and his dalliance with his diary secretary With the news breaking at the same time it was disclosed that the jug eared Charles Clarke had let loose hundreds of foreign ex-convicts, a little light relief about Presser's bedroom antics came as a blessing. But pause to consider.

Prescott is the Deputy Prime Minister, God help us.This semi-literate, bombastic, over weight twit is in charge of the country when Blair is off on his regular foreign junkets. He would actually take over entirely if Blair met with a fatal accident. One doesn't wish that on anyone - even this failed Prime Minister - but it could happen. And Prescott would be let loose on us

And what if the lady in question is a foreign agent? Or sharing her favours with one of our country's enemies? Remember Profumo? Even if she is just an ordinary woman, won over by the charms of this blustering Romeo, what bedroom secrets has Prescott whispered to her and just how much has he compromised his high office?

One thing is more than likely, if she has an IQ even slightly higher than her lover. While she made sure he kept his appointments, no doubt she was keeping her own diary. What a read that is going to be!
